Accessible programming
Discover Rijksmuseum Twenthe – a surprising blend of old and modern art, with programmes for everyone. We offer accessible activities and facilities, such as low-stimulus tours, wheelchair access, and special programmes for visitors with visual impairments. On this page, you will find the full range for different audiences. Plan your visit and feel welcome.
Older visitors
We believe everyone should be able to enjoy the art and stories of the museum. For those unable to visit us, we bring the museum to you. We participate in the Masterpieces on Tour programme of the Museum Plus Bus. For example, if you live in a care home, our guides can present Rijke Verhalen (Rich Stories) at your location – a special lecture designed for you. Read more and book an on-site lecture via this link.
Sensitivity to stimuli
The museum can be busy at times. You can avoid the crowds by visiting in the low season before 11:00 or after 15:30. If you do become overstimulated, ask for a quiet room. Prefer to stay at home? Take our virtual tour and explore the richness of the collection online.
Visual impairment
We offer Touch and Imagine tours for visitors with visual impairments – a sensory experience where you can touch selected objects. Read more about the Touch and Imagine tour here.
Deafblindness
If you are deafblind and would like to visit the museum, please email servicecentrum@rijksmuseumtwenthe.nl. A private guide will accompany you during your visit.
Dutch as a second language
Learn Dutch in the museum by joining our BeeldTaal (Visual Language) tour. You will explore artworks and engage in conversation with the guide and fellow participants – a relaxed and informal way to improve both your language and speaking skills.
Companions
If you are unable to move through the museum independently, you may bring a companion. They receive free admission but must have a valid (free) entry ticket.
